BirthEzy: Turning a Proven Birth Center into a Scalable Maternal-Care Platform

Hero section

From one successful birth center to a scalable vision for maternal care.

BirthEzy had already demonstrated that a safer, more personal and more holistic birth experience was possible. The next challenge was transforming that proven model into a company positioned for expansion, technology development and investment.

Through The Headstart Method, I worked alongside BirthEzy founder Dr. Bola Sogade to clarify the vision, shape the business model and build the strategic foundation for what came next.

Client: BirthEzy
Founder: Dr. Bola Sogade, MD, FACOG
Industry: Maternal Health
Location: Forsyth, Georgia
Scope: Business Strategy, Product Strategy, Fundraising and Brand Positioning

The starting point

A proven model with a much bigger vision

Dr. Bola Sogade had spent more than 20 years caring for women and families as a board-certified OB-GYN.

Her physician-led birth center in Forsyth, Georgia had already supported 45 low-risk deliveries and achieved 99% patient satisfaction. It was proof that women wanted an alternative to impersonal, hospital-centered maternity care.

But the larger vision extended beyond a single location.

BirthEzy was envisioned as a network of modern birth centers supported by technology—providing women with personalized care from preconception through pregnancy, delivery and postpartum recovery.

The idea was powerful. It needed a clearer structure, story and path to scale.

The challenge

Turning clinical expertise into a scalable business

BirthEzy had the medical expertise, operating experience and early patient validation. What it needed was a cohesive business model capable of connecting several moving pieces:

  • A network of community-based birth centers
  • Personalized care before, during and after pregnancy
  • Telehealth and remote patient monitoring
  • A digital platform for mothers and care professionals
  • A replicable framework for opening new locations
  • A credible fundraising and investor strategy

The challenge was not creating another maternity app or opening another birth center.

It was designing a connected maternal-care company that could combine trusted local care with modern technology—without losing the personal experience that made the original model work.

The approach

We started by making the vision easier to understand

The work began by turning a broad vision into a clear, fundable and actionable company strategy.

Together, we defined BirthEzy as a comprehensive maternal-care platform designed to support women across the entire journey:

Preconception

Risk screening, education, family planning and early health preparation.

Pregnancy

Personalized prenatal care, telehealth, education and remote monitoring.

Delivery

Natural birth for eligible low-risk pregnancies, with clear clinical protocols and hospital transfer pathways when higher-level care is required.

Postpartum

Ongoing physical, emotional and educational support extending beyond the traditional six-week visit and continuing for up to six months.

This helped position BirthEzy as more than a physical facility. It became a connected care model designed around the complete maternal journey.

What we built

01. Business and expansion strategy

We developed the strategic foundation for expanding BirthEzy from one validated location into a potential network of three to five birth centers.

The work included:

  • Clarifying the core business model
  • Defining the services offered across the maternity journey
  • Exploring a repeatable birth-center expansion framework
  • Organizing the relationship between physical care and digital support
  • Developing an operational scaling strategy
  • Identifying the infrastructure required to support additional locations

02. Fundraising strategy and investor narrative

BirthEzy needed to communicate its vision in a way that investors and strategic partners could quickly understand.

We developed:

  • A comprehensive investor pitch deck
  • A clearer market and problem narrative
  • The company’s expansion and use-of-funds story
  • A strategy for raising up to $5 million
  • A process for incorporating financial projections and historical performance
  • A targeted investor outreach strategy
  • A framework for consistent fundraising follow-up

The story shifted from “a successful birth center seeking to grow” to “a scalable maternal-care model combining trusted physical care with technology.”

03. Technology and product roadmap

Technology was not treated as a separate product. It was designed as the connective layer supporting mothers, providers and future BirthEzy locations.

The roadmap explored:

  • Telemedicine services
  • Remote patient monitoring
  • Digital triage and risk assessment
  • Maternal education and trusted health information
  • Personalized pregnancy and postpartum support
  • Mental-health resources
  • Community features
  • Care coordination
  • A future patient-facing mobile application
  • EHR and clinical-platform requirements

This established what needed to be built immediately, what could be phased and what should remain part of the longer-term product vision.

04. Brand positioning and thought leadership

We refined the language used to explain BirthEzy and its place within maternal healthcare.

The brand was positioned around accessible, personalized and culturally sensitive care—with safety, respect and innovation at its center.

We also developed a thought-leadership strategy for Dr. Sogade, including:

  • LinkedIn positioning
  • Founder biography and profile direction
  • Educational content themes
  • A consistent publishing strategy
  • Messaging that connected her clinical experience to BirthEzy’s larger mission

The outcome

A clearer foundation for growth

The engagement transformed a broad expansion idea into an organized business, product and fundraising strategy.

By the end of the core strategy work, BirthEzy had:

  • A clearly articulated company vision
  • A defined continuum-of-care model
  • A completed investor pitch deck
  • A fundraising strategy
  • A technology and product roadmap
  • An operational scaling framework
  • A stronger founder and company narrative
  • A phased plan for future postpartum support
  • A clearer path from one birth center to a broader maternal-care platform

The result was not simply a set of deliverables. It was a shared blueprint for deciding what BirthEzy should build, how it should grow and how to communicate the opportunity to others.

The bigger idea

Birth should feel personal without sacrificing safety

BirthEzy is based on a simple but important belief: every woman deserves maternity care that respects her preferences, understands her circumstances and keeps her safe.

Its model brings together physician-led clinical care, experienced midwives, a calm birth environment and the technology needed to support families beyond the walls of one facility.

Today, BirthEzy continues to provide personalized maternity services through its accredited birth center in Forsyth, Georgia. The center supports low-risk natural birth, continuity with a chosen provider, risk assessment, education and postpartum care. Visit BirthEzy

Conclusion

Founder reflection

What this project reinforced for me

The strongest ideas are not always the ones that need to be invented from the ground up.

Sometimes, the proof already exists.

BirthEzy already had an experienced founder, a working care model and patients who valued the experience. The work was to recognize what had been proven, organize it into a scalable system and create a practical path from the current reality to the larger vision.

That is The Headstart Method in action: see what is possible, shape it clearly and start building from what you already have.
